Faux Leather Coffee Cup Sleeves
This project is part of my Faux Falloween Crafting Event where I’m sharing a new Fall or Halloween Cricut craft every day for 10 days.
Learn how to make a Fall Faux Leather Coffee Cup Sleeve with a Cricut
Today’s project is all about creating adorable and functional coffee cup sleeves. These sleeves are designed to protect your hands from the heat of your favorite warm beverages, and they add a touch of seasonal flair to your cup!
These sleeves feature a cute faux leather piece shaped perfectly for a coffee cup, complete with snaps on the back to secure it. I’ll also show you how to make these sleeves without snaps, so you can easily resize them for any cup. The design fits standard Starbucks cups, but feel free to adjust the size as needed.

Step by Step Instructions
Step 1: First, choose your faux leather. This is where you can get creative—use any fall-themed print, pattern, or solid color you like. Textured faux leather can add a unique touch as well.
When selecting your faux leather, keep in mind that the design will cut horizontally. If you’re using a directional pattern that’s printed vertically, like a print with little fall ghosts, make sure to choose a landscape print or request that your supplier prints it horizontally.
This way, your pattern will face the correct direction once cut.
If you order from The Polka Dotted Peach, there’s an option to select a “Landscape” print option at checkout.
Step 2: Start by unzipping the download folder. Then open a blank canvas in Cricut Design Space and upload the SVG files for this project by clicking on the Upload button on the left hand size and choosing the unzipped SVG file.
Step 3: Choose the coffee cup sleeve design you want to make and hide or delete the other ones. Click the MAKE IT button.
When the mat previews load, toggle the MIRROR button on for both because faux leather and heat transfer vinyl cut in reverse. Then drag your shapes away from the side and top edges of the mat a little. Click Continue.
Step 4: Choose the Faux Leather (Paper Thin) setting with “more” pressure for the faux leather mat. Then choose the appropriate material setting for the vinyl mat recommended by your vinyl’s manufacturer.
Step 5: Now, let’s get started with cutting. Place your faux leather pretty side down on the purple strong grip mat and press it down firmly. Secure the edges with blue painter’s tape to prevent any movement during the cut.
Step 6: Remove the faux leather from the mat and poke out the pre-cut holes. Set aside and return to Design Space to cut the heat transfer vinyl mat.
Remove the cut vinyl and weed away the excess.
Step 7: Next press the heat transfer vinyl onto the faux leather. Place the faux leather sleeve on a heat pressing pad. Then position your vinyl design in the center of the sleeve. Cover with a Teflon cover sheet, butcher paper, or parchment paper.
Use your EasyPress Mini set on low (or a regular EasyPress at around 265°F) to press the vinyl to the faux leather. Once pressed, remove the carrier sheet and set the sleeve aside to cool.
Step 8: If you don’t want to apply snaps, wrap the sleeve around your desired cup to determine the best size. Then use glue or Velcro to attach the sleeve together at the open ends.
For a more secure fit, I’ll guide you through adding Kam Snaps. Each snap requires four parts: two caps, one stud, and one socket.
Here’s a great guide on how to apply the Kam Snaps that I find super helpful to refer to. I like to take each of the four pieces out of the snaps box and line them as shown below on my work table:
Arrange your snap pieces as follows:
- Side 1: Cap on the outside, socket on the inside
- Side 2: Cap on the inside, stud on the outside (with the bumps facing down)
Use your Kam Snap pliers to press each snap into place. Ensure the black part of the pliers covers the cap, and the white part presses down on the corresponding piece. Squeeze firmly to secure each snap.
Once both sides are done, fold the sleeve over, snap it closed, and your sleeve is ready to slide it onto your coffee cup. It’s a stylish, reusable accessory that’s perfect for fall and Halloween!
And there you have it—your very own DIY faux leather coffee cup sleeve. This project is versatile, and you can customize it with different patterns, textures, and designs to match any occasion.

Can’t wait to make these!!! Even more excited to try out my kam snap kit that’s been sitting collecting dust because I’ve been nervous to try it. The instructions that came with mine are not user friendly. Thank you Amy for showing how easy they are to use.
These are so cute!
I was so excited when I saw this! My daughter had left me one of these cups when she moved out and I was going to make myself a spiffy cover for it. I was so excited–I had all the stuff to make a project the day it came out. Turns out when we were cleaning out her room to turn it into my craft room, my husband thought it was trash and threw it away. Sigh. Now I have to get to the store and get one so I can measure to put the snaps in the right place. I swear some days my life is a bd 70s sit-com.
I have a problem with the stud side of the snap coming apart when you open the snap. Am I doing something wrong? The problem has been on the coin purses. Is it because of the 3 layers?
Hi, Amy! Are you using the Size 20 Extra Long Kam Snaps for 3 layers?
