Answers to your questions about making Sublimation Faux Leather Travel Cord Keepers
Q: Can you sublimate directly on faux leather?
A: You can’t sublimate directly onto faux leather, but you can press a sublimation medium (like sublimation heat transfer vinyl or or Siser glitter heat transfer vinyl) directly on the faux leather. Then you ca sublimate onto the sublimation medium using Infusible Ink or sublimation ink sheets. My video tutorial on how to sublimate on to faux leather shows exactly how this process works and what materials you need.
Q: Which Cricut machines will cut faux leather?
A: You can cut faux leather with any of the current Cricut machines because they all cut faux leather with the standard fine point blade included with each machine. For this project you can use the Cricut Maker, Cricut Maker 3, Cricut Maker 4, Cricut Explore 4, Cricut Explore 3, Cricut Explore Air 2, or the Cricut Joy Xtra. This project is too large for the Cricut Joy.
Q: What do I need to sublimate faux leather?
A: To press heat transfer vinyl onto faux leather you’ll need four things: 1) a smooth, light colored faux leather, 2) a sublimation medium like sublimation heat transfer vinyl, 3) Infusible Ink or sublimation ink sheets, and 4) a heat press that can achieve temperatures of 385-400 degrees. You can see all the supplies you need to sublimate faux leather here.
