This sweet little poinsettia keychain brings instant holiday joy to your bag or keys! In this tutorial I’ll be showing you how to make a Faux Leather Layered Poinsettia Keychain with a Cricut.

We’ll be using faux leather, heat transfer vinyl, and colored enamel rivets. Add a matching tassel and shiny hardware and you’ve got the cutest festive accessory ever… perfect for gifting or keeping for yourself!

Cut Setting Used✂️: Faux Leather (Paper Thin) with “More” pressure

• Faux Leather
• Any faux leather you choose. For the red version I used this Red Plaid, this Deep Red Glossy Glitter, and this solid Red. For the White version, I used this White Plaid, this White Glossy Glitter and this White Embossed print.
• I buy 9×12 inch size, Portrait Orientation, Regular Scaling but you can choose whatever options you’d like!
• Heat Transfer Vinyl
  • I used Siser Glitter Heat Transfer Vinyl in Old Gold.
• Other Project Supplies
  • 8mm colored rivets or 8x10mm colored rivets or metal 6mm rivets and hammer (or you can use glue instead of rivets).
  • Large Lobster Claw Clasp Keychains
  • Jewelry Making Pliers (Baby Wubbers Chain Nose and Baby Wubbers Flat Nose are my favorites)
  • 10mm Jump Rings
  • Faux Suede Tassels in Silver finish and Gold finish
  • Craft or fabric glue like Beacon Fabri-Tac (optional)
  • Teflon Sheet
  • Weeding Tool like a Pin Pen or like the one in the Cricut Basic Tool Set
  • Blue Painters Tape
  • Small Curved Scissors

A: You can cut faux leather with any of the current Cricut machines because they all cut faux leather with the standard fine point blade included with each machine. For this project you can use the Cricut Maker, Cricut Maker 3, Cricut Maker 4, Cricut Explore 4, Cricut Explore 3, Cricut Explore Air 2, the Cricut Joy Xtra, or the Cricut Joy (with a 12″ long mat).

A: To press heat transfer vinyl onto faux leather you’ll need a traditional heat press, Cricut EasyPress, or Cricut EasyPress Mini. I used a Cricut EasyPress Mini for this project because it’s great with pressing small projects like earrings, keychains, and accessories.
